Who are Somata, and what do they do?

Hi, and welcome from me, Mary, to the Somata site.  The idea of Somata grew from a conversation with a friend where we found we both wanted to be able to display our handcrafted designer work on the internet.  Sadly my friend is no longer with us, but I have chosen to continue under the banner we created together.  For those of you who have asked:  the name Somata comes from the first two letters of my friends name - Sonja - the first two letters of my name - Mary - and the first two letters of my daughters name - Tamsin - who initially helped with the web design and set up.

You will find here many types of jewellery, (such as precious metal clay jewellery - also known as fine silver jewellery - beaded jewellery, dichroic and fused glass jewellery, beaded cabochons, and more), as well as fused art glass bowls, dishes, mirrors and many other beautiful gifts and must-haves for you and your home. Many of our necklaces, bracelets and dress watches contain genuine Swarovski crystals for that extra touch of sophistication and elegance. Because each piece is individually handmade, no two pieces are ever the same - everything you buy from here will be utterly unique! 

I craft because I love to create beautiful - and sometimes whimsical - things.

I am passionate about my work, and will happily discuss commissions with you, or, if you have several hours to spare, any other aspect of my chosen craft mediums!
