Clinical Year Two training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy

Professional practice year
​

After accumulating 100 hours of client work in a placement setting, you are eligible to be signed off for private practice as a trainee psychotherapist. To be signed off you need to be observed by a tutor at the college and have your TA supervision write you a letter of endorsement.

 

Clinical year two focuses on developing your professional practice, giving you practical information about working as a therapist, as well as continuing to deepen your understanding in general.

Topics covered:  

 

  • Developing the therapeutic relationship.

  • Contracting, diagnosis and treatment planning

  • Understanding and working with sociopolitical context

  • Unconscious relational patterns - Transference and countertransference.

  • Erotic transference.

  • Anti-oppressive practice.

  • Working in private practice - Professional practice and ethics.

  • Working at embodied and relational depth

  • Using research to enhance our practice

  • Endings and our goodbye – When psychotherapy comes to an end.

Timings: Friday 5pm – 9pm; Saturday 9am – 6pm
Assignments

​

You will be required to keep a reflective learning journey, and complete two written assignments, each of 2000 words. Further to this, each month there will be an article to read in preparation for the following training weekend.

 

 

What will I gain from attending this training?

 

A deep dive into professional practice and the realities of working as a psychotherapist. By the end of this year, if you have met all of the criteria set out, you will be eligible to start private practice as a trainee psychotherapist, a very important and exciting step.
