TA101 Training – Introduction to Transactional Analysis

What is TA101 Training?

The TA101 is the official introductory course in Transactional Analysis and an internationally recognised 12-hour certificate. It is the first step for those interested in becoming a TA therapist, but also works as a fascinating stand-alone training for anyone wishing to understand themselves, others and relationships better.

Whether you are curious about people's psychology, already working in a helping profession and looking to add to your toolbox, or considering a change in career, the TA101 is a place to start.

Who is the TA101 Course For?

The TA101 is suitable for anyone interested in understanding themselves and relationships more deeply, professionals who want to broaden their psychological knowledge, and those considering further training in Transactional Analysis or psychotherapy.

What Will I Learn on the TA101?

The course introduces the foundations of Transactional Analysis and some of its core models for understanding personality, communication and relational patterns.

  • The foundations of TA – core beliefs and contracting

  • Ego states – different aspects of the self and other

  • Transactions and strokes – communication and social needs

  • Script and life positions – early experiences

  • Drivers and injunctions – early decisions

  • Games and rackets – repetitive patterns with self and others

  • Discounting, symbiosis and passivity

Online and In-Person TA101 Training

Somata offers TA101 training both online and in person in East Sussex. The online course offers an accessible way to begin exploring Transactional Analysis wherever you are based, while our in-person dates provide the opportunity to learn together face to face.

If you decide to continue beyond the TA101, Somata's core psychotherapy training is delivered in person.
