Entry Requirements

We welcome applications from people with a genuine interest in personal growth, relationships, and psychotherapy.

Previous Experience

Lived experience, independent study, or previous professional experience. We recognise that preparation for a helping profession can come from many different pathways, including personal life experiences, voluntary work, caring responsibilities, community involvement, self-directed learning, or careers that involve supporting, teaching, leading, or working closely with others. We value the richness and perspective that diverse experiences bring to psychotherapy training.

A University Degree is Helpful But Not Essential

A university degree or professional qualification can provide a useful foundation for psychotherapy training, but it is not a requirement for entry. We believe that people develop the knowledge, skills, and personal qualities needed for therapeutic work through many different routes. Applications are considered holistically, taking into account your life experience, professional background, personal development, and readiness to engage with the demands of training.

A Commitment to Personal Development

Psychotherapy training involves an ongoing process of learning, self-reflection, and growth. We are looking for applicants who are curious about themselves and others, open to feedback, and willing to engage with the personal and relational aspects of training. A genuine commitment to developing both your therapeutic knowledge and your self-awareness is an important foundation for becoming an effective and ethical practitioner.

Capacity For Self-Reflection

Effective psychotherapy practice requires an ongoing willingness to reflect on your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and relational patterns. We value applicants who are open to learning about themselves, able to consider different perspectives, and willing to engage constructively with feedback. These qualities support both personal growth and the development of a thoughtful, responsive, and ethical therapeutic practice.

A Deep Interest in Understanding Human Beings

A deep interest in understanding human beings. Psychotherapy is rooted in curiosity about people, relationships, and the many ways we make sense of ourselves and the world around us. We welcome applicants who are genuinely interested in human experience and are motivated to explore the emotional, psychological, relational, and social factors that shape our lives. This curiosity provides an important foundation for developing empathy, insight, and effective therapeutic practice.
